litter bins
22. Apr 2009 at 18:02

Bishops Lydeard is a lovely village but it depresses me when I see how much litter there is and how many dog owners dont clear up after their pooches.
I think we need more bins; particularly next to the bus stops and more poop bins. Wondered what others think and how we could go about getting this sorted.
I also wondered what the school does about the litter issue and thought they could bring the kids out on a litter pick - part of education about the environment and personal responsibility

Cotford is a lovely village, too.

With the same problem.

I would say the majority of dog owners clear up after their pets but the minority who don't cause the problem. Much of this is caused by people walking their dogs off leads after dark ----- who then can't see where the 'deposits' have been made. (or don't want to!)

It's the same with litter - too lazy to hold onto it until they reach a bin they can toss it into!

we spend many an hour clearing rubbish at the park before the children can play....and there is a bin there!!!!

i think its a shame but there is always a minority that can't use the bin

as for the dog faeces, over the winter it was especially bad...there was a petition that went to the parish council however i am unsure of the outcome.

It was said that A few people called the dog wardens but nothing was done....as ever!
